AltoSignal is a small California company that makes one thing: a silent way for staff to tell each other who is needed, for what, and where, on the screens an office already owns.
A quieter way for a busy office to talk.
In most offices, the front desk still tells a doctor a patient is ready by walking down the hall, calling over an intercom or sending a text that gets lost. Every one of those interrupts someone: the patient in the chair, the hygienist mid-cleaning, the guest in a treatment room.
AltoSignal replaces that with a tap. Staff choose who, what and where, for example Dr. Patel, Patient Ready, Op 2, and every screen in the office shows it at once. The doctor taps to acknowledge it, the front desk sees that it was seen, and nobody raises their voice.
Built with clinics, not for a slide deck.
Thomas Jaeger and Dan Root founded AltoSignal in 2013, and the first installation went live that year at a dental school in San Francisco, where every dental student had their own cubicle, computer and chair. Giving each person their own login goes back to that first install.
Since then it has grown from one building into an app that dental offices, medical and ENT practices, eye care practices and day spas run every day, on the phones, tablets and computers they already own. It is now a native app for iPhone, iPad, Android, Amazon Fire tablets, Windows, Mac and Linux, and it runs in any browser.
A few things we hold to.
AltoSignal does not store patient names, charts or PHI. The buttons say "Dr. Patel, Patient Ready, Op 2", not who the patient is. We sign a BAA on request.
